Jessica Simpson Gone Country
Jessica Simpson has tried a different flavor of music, releasing her new single "Come on Over" she is going back to her Texas roots with a trip into country music.
Her album, due out in September 2008, will be inspired by her favorite country legends including Reba McEntire, Faith Hill, Martina McBride, and Shania Twain.
It's interesting that her first single shares the same name as the title track from Shania's album "Come on Over" released in 1997. The album reached #2 on the Billboard 200.
"I am a country girl," she said in an interview with Billboard. "I grew up in Texas, and country music was what I listened to. I always wanted to make a country album, but I wanted to wait until the time was right."
Doubtful that Jessica will obtain the mega-star power of Shania, the track however is a light hearted and catchy tune receiving positive reviews from radio stations across the country that are sampling the new single.
In a recent interview, her father and manager Joe Simpson said, "She's a singer from top to bottom. And everything in the music business, especially pop music, has moved away from singers. And I think country is the only pure, storytelling kind of genre left."
You can hear the track on various radio station websites or on YouTube. |
